Ziauddin College of Media Sciences held its 2nd Media Society elections with full zeal on 11th April 2017. Ziauddin College of Media Sciences always has a goal of bringing the entire Ziauddin University on one platform. Giving the entire University a privilege to cast their votes in Ziauddin Media elections was like adding another feather to the proud Managements cap. The elections were conducted in a lively manner and all the departments appreciated the efforts of ZCOMS.

The Speech and Language Pathologists from ZCSLHS Ms. Amina Siddiqui, Ms. Maha Khalid, Ms. Misha Irshad and Mr. Ali Punjani got recognized as internationally trained VitalStim Therapist in Pakistan.

VitalStim Therapy is a specialized form of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) designed to treat swallowing disorders through muscle re-education.

The VitalStim Therapy System is a non-invasive, external electrical stimulation therapy approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2002 for the treatment of dysphagia with application on the anterior neck.

Ali Punjani and Misha Irshad also have certification for NMES through Vital Stim CIAO from Malaysia, making a total of 4 Speech language clinicians certified for NMES Vital Stim therapy for dysphagia by 3rd April 2017.

On March 14, 2017, Ms. Asiya Schwani conducted a workshop on ‘Picture Exchange Communication System’ for students and faculty.

ZCOMS students attended a very vibrant session at the US consulate Karachi on 14th March 2017. The session was conducted by a very seasoned media professional. ZCOMS students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of interacting with the US Spokesperson at the US Consulate on “My Role as a Spokesperson Vs the Role of a Responsible Media”. It was wonderful to see ZCOMS students ranging from 1st year to final year confidently raise very meaningful questions to the distinguished speaker. We look forward for a continued engagement of collaboration with the US Consulate for further institutional development.

Inter Batch Cricket Tournament was arranged at Ziauddin College of Biomedical Engineering between 10th March to 14th March 2017.

Commemoration Day was organized by ZCPT on Tuesday March 7 2017, to acknowledge curricular and extra-curricular activities of the students. The effort of the faculty was highly appreciated by the students and they designate this activity to be very beneficial to create a healthy competition among the students and improving their performance.

Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology Ziauddin University held a full day accredited 5th International Symposium of Gynecology and Fetomaternal Medicine incollaboration with Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and Society of Obstetrician and Gynecologists of Pakistan (SOGP). The accreditation was done by the Dept. of Continuing Professional Education (Ziauddin University).

The Indus hospital hosted a day Long program on World Hearing Day, i.e. March 3rd, in which the students and faculty of the College of Speech and Hearing Sciences participated actively; with Ms. Amina Siddiqui delivering a workshop on Methodologies in Aural Rehabilitation.

On 2nd March, Dr. Salman Baig and Ms Misbah Qadeer conducted a workshop on ‘Tracheostomy’
